Classroom Guidance Lessons
We are happy to be included in the seven-day rotation of specials! Classroom guidance lessons are a huge part of our comprehensive school counseling program because it gives us a chance to reach every student throughout the school year. Lessons are developed to meet students' academic, career, and personal/social needs. Topics will include friendship, bullying, self confidence, career exploration, stress management, safety, health and wellness, study skills, and more.
We're here to help students on an individual basis as needed. While we do not provide long term therapy, we are able to meet with students periodically throughout the year. Establishing and reaching goals, getting through life changes, anger management, resolving conflicts, and test-taking anxiety are just a few of the areas where we help our students improve and reach their potential. Students can be referred by a parent or teacher, or they can self-refer by leaving us a note in our box outside our office door. While confidentiality is an important component of counseling, students are encouraged to share their feelings and discoveries with parents.
Small Group Counseling
Small group counseling is a great way to help students who are dealing with similar issues. Students can be referred for small group counseling through parents, staff members, and themselves. Small groups vary throughout the school year depending on student needs. If a group is unavailable, the counselor can meet with the student individually. Small groups usually meet between once or twice a week for four to six sessions.
